For the last 7 weeks we have been playing samba music. Samba is a Brazilian type of music that they play at carnivals. We use 4 different types of instrument: the Surdo, which is a like a bass drum the
Tamberim, which is a tambourine with no bells, the Shaker, you can guess what that is and the go-go bells, which have two bells that are different notes.

On day 2 we went canoeing. Ben, our instructor, showed us the basics and soon we were out on the water. First we learned to turn and then we went on a bit of an adventure. We had to go under a tunnel made of corrugated tin using our hands to pull ourselves through. On their way back Ross and Ciaran capsized and got soaked. Ben towed them back to shore.
After canoeing we went gorgewalking. We got absolutely drenched. We swam to a rock and did some jumps. Alfie did the biggest jump. some people got swept away by the current but got caught by our instructor.
In the evening we went to the Inverness Aquadome. There were lots of flumes, The Vortex, The Cyclone and the Lochness Monster. The Cyclone swirled and the Ness Monster was steep, very steep!

On Thursday the 3rd of April, 08, we had a celebration of work. The Primary 5-7s went down to the hall in the morning to set up. Mr Dickie gave us each a table to stand by and explain to the visitors. There was an ICT table, an art area, a P.S.ED table, a topic table (Vikings) and a drama and Scottish culture table. I was at the P.S.ED table

On Thursday 20th March we all had to bring hardboiled eggs to school for an Easter egg decorating competition. We used paint, felt tips, crayons, feathers and stick on googly eyes to decorate the eggs. I made a Frankenstein egg.

Every year p7 have a project up in Oban High School to get used to Oban High and
what projects they assign.
Last year the p7s did French when they had to dress up.
This year the project is Technology and we have to make a recycled clock out of cd cases, teddy bears, wood and other things!
I am making my clock out of slate and lots of sequins, GP is making hers out of a teddy bear.
Tomorrow GP and I will go up to the High School and make our clocks.
I think it’ll be really fun, I can’t wait! KC

We caught the bus in Taynuilt at five past nine. It is a three hour journey to
Newtonmore. When we got there we had an introduction from one of the instructors. our first activity was the village challenge we had to find questions E.G How many men fought and died in the first and second world war and lived in Newtonmore. After tea we went on a walk up a hill in Newtonmore. On the second day we did canoeing it was really fun. My favourite activites were rock/abseiling and rafting. In the rafting there was a rapid it was called the washing machine,if you ever see it you will know why.

We had our world book day on the 1st of March 2007. The theme was books from other countries or characters with a different nationality than our own. Lots of people came dressed up really well and it was really fun guessing what they were some of the costumes were Cowgirls, Aladdin, Zorro, Willy Wonka and Darth Vader. Mr Dickie came dressed as King Kong with the little doll and hairy feet but he didn’t actually have a suit. We wrote a story start on world book day. The primary 1-4 class started it and then sent it to Colonsay. They sent it to Saint Kierens in Campeltown and then they sent it to Tayvallich and then it got sent back to the primary 5-7 in Kilchrenan and we finished it. The School Board are going to decide what the name should be out of the thoughts we came up with, and which picture should be the front cover. The primary 4-7 class did banners to hang up in the class on one side it said the country and on the other side it said the country’s language.

We’ve got our wormery at school. We have about 200-300 worms and they lay cocoons every week with about 5 or 6 eggs. Wow!
We learned about Heart-Start. A woman called Angela McNeil came in and she was very kind. She came twice on two Wednesdays. The first Wednesday we used a telephone which linked to another one in a different room and we would talk to each other and pretend we were phoning an ambulance. That week was about accidents when the people are still conscious. The second week was about the recovery position and unconscious people. We learned that you can be unconscious but you can still be breathing.

On Wednesday, Jodi and I went to the maths fest at Oban High School. We went in a mini bus with pupils from Taynuit & Dalmally Primary. When we got there we had to look at a sheet to see what teams we were in. Jodi and I were with Calum and Rod (people who used to go to our school). We did puzzles that were written down on paper and some that were on a table. We had lunch at the cafeteria
and were allowed to look around the school at break time.We enjoyed it very much and can’t wait for next years!!!
